SOUTH POINT — Helen D. Brown of South Point, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Donnell E. Brown, in Greenport, N.Y. She died peacefully in her bed of neuroendocrine cancer. She was 69.
Helen was the daughter of the late James L. and N. Floris Huff Davis, and the wife of Donald L. Brown, who passed away in December 2004.
She is survived by her daughter, Donnell, and son, James (Jim) F. Brown of Euless, Texas, as well as her brother, George L. Davis (wife, Carolyn), and sisters, Betty J. Blevins (husband, Ken) and Gloria S. Balmer (husband, Harry), and three grandchildren, Carl, Hailey and Sean Brown.
Her remains are to be buried in Union Hill Cemetery in Chesapeake, alongside her husband.
Helen was retired from Bell Helicopter Textron of Fort Worth, Texas, where she worked as a secretary for the Security Department for more than 25 years.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be as follows 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 6939 County Road 15, Chesapeake with Tom Ross, pastor, and Harry Balmer, pastor of Midland Baptist Church, officiating.
