MILDRED CANNAN

Mildred A. Cannan, 85, of Ironton, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Patti Rawlins. The Saranac Lake, N. Y. native was born Sept. 3, 1923. the daughter of the late Hubert and Grace Skeels Paye.
Mrs. Cannan was raised in upstate New York, settled in Ironton with her children in 1963. A nurse anesthetist by trade, she worked for 20 years as an RN at Lawrence County General Hospital, before retiring to Florida in 1984. She returned to Ironton in 2006.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Brisco and Barbara Sabia; and a brother, John Paye.
She is survived by daughter and son in law, Barb and Bill Cochran of Franklin Furnace; daughter and son in law, Florence and Mike Smith of St. Cloud, Fla.; daughter and son in law, Jane and Pat Whaley of Ironton; son and daughter in law, Jim and Lori Cannan of Hilliard; daughter and son in law, Patti and Charlie Rawlins of Ironton; and daughter and son in law, Margie and Tary Fuller of Lexington, Ky.;
11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
