JOYCE DICKESS

Joyce Ann Dickess, 76, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, at a local health care center. The Ironton native was born Feb. 28,1933, the daughter of the late Emerson “Dutch” and Mary Catherine Hauge Halderman.
Mrs. Dickess was a graduate of Ironton High School. She was a former secretary at Jake Scherer Insurance Agency, a retired clerk for CSX Railroad, former Ladies auxiliary officer for the Ironton Eagles, and was active in and enjoyed charity work for the Elks and Moose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean B Dickess; two sisters, Jerre Meyers, and Janice Christian; and a special friend, Ralph Davis.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Howie and Mary Dickess of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Tony and Cindy Dickess Childers of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Mark Dickess of Ironton; seven grandchildren, Ritchie Belville, J.D. Kegley, Melanie Kinney, Michael Kinney, Brittany Persinger, Caleb Persinger and Alison Dickess; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Don Comer officiating.
