SOUTH POINT — Jack L. Wheeler, 68, of South Point,went to be with his Savior, on Aug. 13, 2009,at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born Nov. 5, 1940, the son of the late William David and Emma Alice Baldwin Wheeler of Washington, Pa. He graduated from Claysville (Pa.) High School with the class of 1958. On Sept. 25, 1965, he married Frances Ross Wheeler, who survives. He was a member of the Coal Grove Church of the Nazarene and attended the First South Point Church of God for the past three years. He was retired from the J.C. Penney Company and formerly was employed by Fort Pitt Shoe Store in Ironton, and Cal Lambert Shoes in Ashland, KY.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Everett and Emerson Ross.
Mr. Wheeler is also survived by a loving daughter and son-in-law, Mary Beth and Paul Goodson of South Point. He leaves behind his three precious grandchildren, Kyle David, Ryan Matthew and Lydia Leeann Goodson, and a special niece he considered a granddaughter, Susan Lee, of Dallas N.C.
Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, William David (Becky) Wheeler of London; Kenneth (Karen) Wheeler of Washington, Pa.; Rebecca McCullough of Washington, and Carol Taylor of Phoenix, Ariz.
Jack was loved by three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Mike Payne, Janet and Carl Payne and Sue and Scott Black; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Johnny and Debbie Ross. He leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, close friends and neighbors. Jack was loved by all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed. He loved his work, his Church and his family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Paul McNurline and Rev. Clell Elliott officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
