COAL GROVE — If Rock Hill Redwomen coach Sam Gue was passing out gold stars for good performances, he would have needed more than one sheet of stickers.
With contributions from top to bottom in their lineup, the Redwomen beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 11-1 in six innings of Thursday’s Ohio Valley Conference game.
Gue said an illustration of the overall effort was the relief pitching of Jill Hairston who took over in the fourth inning when starter Sami Nixon became ill.
“Jill came into the game in a tough spot and did a good job,” said Gue. “Our entire team hit the ball. Jenna Lane has been hitting the ball. Brooke Hanshaw and Kaci Russell have been consistent. It was just a good team win.”
Rock Hill (15-6, 7-2) had 15 hits en route to the win. Lane was 3-4 with a double, triple and three runs batted in. Hanshaw was 2-4 with a double and two RBI, and Russell 3-4 with a double.
McKenzie Harrah had a two-run double in the fourth that snapped a scoreless tie.
The lead went to 5-0 in the fifth when Hanshaw had a two-run double and Lane followed with an RBI triple.
Brooklynn Kingery ignited a six-run sixth inning with a double that featured a two-run double by Lane.
Rock Hill visits Chesapeake Friday.
