PORTSMOUTH — Same kind of play but different results.

Tuesday’s game was a lot like Monday’s performance, but this time the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers got better results.

Ironton had eight hits on Monday but lost 7-5. On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers continued to hit the ball but this time they played errorless softball in a 7-4 win over the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers.

“Aley Carmon is crushing the ball,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields. “She has went the distance the past two games on the mound as well.

“Last night against Chesapeake we were hitting the ball well but leaving too many on base. Tonight we were connecting the hits and scoring some runs. I was proud of our team effort tonight.”

Carmon struck out four, walked one and hit a batter to get the win.

Ironton had 10 hits with Laken White going 2-3 with a double and Laura Shope — in her first varsity start — was 2-4. Eight different players had hits for the Lady Tigers.

Clay (14-8) had 13 hits with Alisha Shepherd going 3-4.

Ironton hosts Coal Grove Wednesday.
