Marcia Helen Harding, 76, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Ashland, Ky. The Jamestown, N. Y. native was born Feb. 10, 1933, the daughter of the late Ralph and Gladys Rozler Patchen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John G. Harding.
Mrs. Harding was a graduate of East Palestine School and a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ironton, where she was an Honorary Deaconess, on the Caring Committee, a choir member and a member of the Adventure Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Harding Vance
She is survived by a daughter, Kim Vance of Ashland; a son, Col. Gregory and Holly Erwin-Harding of Chatham, Va.; two sisters, Nancy Loshinsky of New Waterford and Cheryl Harding Pope of Whitehall; five grandchildren, Kristin Paige Harding and Michael Harding both of Chatham, Courtney Vance of LaJolla, Calif., Hilary Caudill and her husband Andrew of Ashland, Ky., and Blake Vance of Ashland, Ky.; lifelong friends, Jane Craig of Ironton and Jan Christner of Wake Forest, N.C.; her pastors, Rev. Dennis Strawn and family and Eric Barnes and family; Monday Morning Bible Study Group; Widow’s Club; and her church family
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with Pastors Dennis Strawn and Eric Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.
