LEONARD NEAL

Leonard Ray Neal, 65, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 2, 1944, the son of Edwin Lee and Edna Sites Neal. He is also survived by his wife, Janet Thompson Neal, whom he married June 15, 1963.
Mr. Neal wass a 1962 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a member of the U.S. National Guards. He was a former millwright with Ironton Iron for more than 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Schneider of South Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Jr. “J.R.” and Melissa Neal of Ironton; a brother, Frank Neal of Ironton; a sister, Katherine McClaskey of Ironton; and four grandchildren, Kacie Holston, Tre Neal, Wesley Neal and Addison Neal, all of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
