LLOYD, Ky. — The Ironton Fighting Tigers played better. Now they just have to hit better.

Ironton managed just five hits in two games at the Greenup County Tournament as they lost 10-0 in five innings on Friday to Lawrence County and 4-0 to the Russell Red Devils on Saturday.

“We played better (Saturday) overall. We stayed in the game but could not get any offensive production,” said Ironton coach Larry Goodwin.

“We entered the Greenup Tournament hoping to play the better teams in Kentucky. Playing the better teams will pay off for us down the road.”

Derek Battise and Hunter Weber each went 1-2 in Friday’s game against Lawrence County (15-5).

On Saturday, Weber was 2-3 and Hunter Klaiber 1-3 in the loss to Russell (8-9).

Ironton plays at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Ashland, Ky.
