Thomas R. Jordan 74, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Wayne County, W. Va., native was born Feb. 4, 1935, the son of the late William H. and Elizabeth Maynard Jordan. He is survived by his wife Laura Crance Jordan whom he married April 23, 1953.
Mr. Jordan attended Coal Grove Schools and was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran. Mr. Jordan also worked for Hess Chemical Co. as a truck driver for 31 years and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Johnny Ray Jordan; five brothers, William H. Jordan Jr., Bruce Jordan, Franklin Jordan, R.D. Jordan, and Lucian Jordan; and a sister, Gleneta Finley.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and David Hatfield of Amesville, and Nancy and Ray Bishop of Mendenhall, Miss.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas R. and Jo Jordan Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, William A. and Susan Jordan of Ironton and Shane K. and Kelli Jordan of Albany; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jim and Sherry Jordan of Lynn Haven, Fla., Patrick and Renaute Jordan of Coal Grove and Dan Jordan; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Todd Wallace and Minister Jim Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Zoar Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 8850.
