An estimated 250 children ranging in age from newborn to 12-years-old were in attendance at the annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by the Ironton International Association of Firefighters Local 532 and the Ironton Business Association (IBA) on Thursday at the soccer fields across from Liebert on South Ninth Street in Ironton.
The top egg-getters in each of the four age groups were given an Easter basket comprised of candy and other items donated by local business and individuals. Nearly 120 baskets were distributed total.
“We are going to keep passing them out,” R.A. Jones, deputy sheriff, said. “The plan is to give away as many as we can.”
The hunt was originally scheduled for this past Tuesday but was postponed because inclement weather.
