The wild, wild west invaded the Open Door School in Ironton on Friday night as the school hosted its 2014 Prom titled “The Western Waltz.”

“The students really enjoy having the prom every year,” said Curt Brady, a teacher at the school. “It’s a big event where they get to dress up real nice, and they have a lot of fun with it.”

The students in a school-wide vote chose the theme and the gym was decorated with horseshoes, saddles and a desert sky motif as students enjoyed food and music in style.

“We let the students choose the theme,” Brady said. “We sent out flyers with a couple different options on it and the ‘Western Waltz’ is what they wanted.”

Students from Collins Career Center’s beauty school came to Open Door earlier that day and painted nails, fixed hair and showed the boys how to tie a tie.
