OUS Proctorville Center hosting show featuring Renaissance artists
PROCTORVILLE — Artists from the Renaissance Art Gallery in Huntington, W.Va., are being featured until April 29 at the Ohio University Southern Proctorville Center’s latest show.
The show is titled “Many Faces of Art.” It opened with a reception on March 28.
The Renaissance Gallery opened its doors at the Huntington High Renaissance Center in September 2001. It is a member-owned co-op of artists in the Tri-State.
Located in a former high school building now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Renaissance Art Gallery was at first an outgrowth of the Tri-State Arts Association, an organization boasting a half-century of service to artists in various fine arts media in Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky, centered at the Huntington Museum of Art.
The Renaissance Gallery offers changing exhibits of members’ work. It frequently features exhibitions of guest artists as well as, regularly hosting public receptions introducing new artists to a larger art-loving public.
In what is now an annual tradition, the Renaissance Gallery hosts a National Annual Miniature Exhibition during the month of November.
Its mission is to promote art and art education in the community and among its members; to encourage and promote a public interest and understanding of art; to create and develop a closer relationship between art and the community and further the education and artistic development of its members.
