Collins Career Center was recently awarded national accreditation from the Council on Occupational Education.
The accreditation means that during evaluations CCC either met or exceeded the standards of the COE. The accreditation will run for the maximum of six years, after that time CCC will have to reapply.
“The announcement was made in February,” said Terri Williams, marketing coordinator for CCC. “The COE’s evaluation process includes an extensive self-study by the institution and an intensive review by a visiting team of professional educators.”
The COE is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Ga. The goal of the COE is to provide post secondary technical education programs across the nation with accreditation that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, as well as other reviews and informational services for post secondary institutions.
“Institutional membership in the COE is voluntary,” Williams said. “But you can only become a member by receiving accreditation. With over 500 institutional members at the present time no other agency accredits and serves the diversity of organizations served by the COE.”
