Harry S. Russell, 88, of Ironton died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at SOMC Hospice Out Patient Program.
He was born May 31, 1921, in Nash County, North Carolina. He was the husband of Juanita Darling Russell. He was the son of the late Arthur and Susan Caroline Forest Russell.
He was a retired blacksmith from the CSX Railroad. He was in the U.S Navy serving in the Construction Battalion.
He is also survived by his wife and one son Robin Russell of Ironton; one stepsister, Shirley Raith of Wisconsin; one grandson, Ryan Russell of Ironton; one granddaughter and son-in-law, Layla and Thomas Bea of Ironton; two great-grandchildren, Emmit Bea and Aticus Bea of Ironton; a brother and sister-in-law. Bill and Ina Darling of Ironton; one sister-in-law, Nell Darling Browning; a niece Pattie Large; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley and Gene Bartrum.
Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Woodland Cemetery with Bill Darling officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home until time of the service. Please make donations to SOMC Hospice Out Patient Program, 2201 25th St. Portsmouth, OH 45662.
