With the success of its inaugural season still fresh in mind, Ironton Farmers Market participants both past and future will meet to reflect on 2013 and look ahead to this spring.
“This meeting is for all farmers and vendors who took part last season,” Sam Heighton, market manager, said. “I am also inviting anyone who would like to sell at the market next season.”
Heighton said last year’s market was “very successful” but says he’s always looking for ways to improve.
“We had some great entertainment last year, too, and we would like to expand in that area,” he said. “Anyone interested in being part of the entertainment should also attend. Anyone who does or is interested in street performing will be considered.”
The farmers market was held 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Friday and Saturday from April to October on South Second Street in front of the former Ironton Train Station. A Family Fun Days event was held in conjunction with the market in June and August and a corn fest, tomato fest and apple fest were also held. Ironton In Bloom chair Carol Allen said these events will be held annually. The season culminated with a potluck dinner at the Ro-Na Theater on Nov. 7, 2013.
“We have a great group of sellers and a great location,” Heighton said. “I believe Ironton is a special place and more and more folks are agreeing.”
The market is a project of Ironton aLive and will again be sponsored by Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. For more information, contact Heighton at 740-533-7951 or visit www.irontonfarmersmarket.com.
