Panthers postpone 2 basketball games
The Chesapeake Panthers at River Valley boys’ basketball game has been moved to Jan. 25. The Lady Panthers’ home game scheduled Monday against River Valley will be played on Wednesday.
Ironton will host alumni basketball
The Ironton High School athletic department will host its inaugural annual alumni basketball game Friday, Jan. 24, at the Harold Conley Sports Center.
Former male and female players are encouraged to participate in the event that is being held in conjunction with the Hall of Fame Showcase and induction ceremonies on Saturday, Jan 25.
A percentage of the proceeds from the alumni game will go to the Hall of Fame Committee.

Bench press, deadlift meet Jan. 18 at SV
The 11th annual bench press and dead lift meet will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at Symmes Valley High School.
There will be 12 weight classes: 125, 135, 145, 155, 165, 175, 185, 195, 210, 225, 250 and unlimited. There will also be three weight classes for girls.
Winners receive a trophy and places 2-6 receive ribbons. Team trophies will be given to the top three teams as well as a trophy to the top lifter overall who can lift the most over their bodyweight in the combined lifts.
Weigh-in will be from 8-to-9:30 a.m.. A coaches meeting will be at 9:45 and lifting begins at 10.
No bench shirts, squat suits or dead lift suits are permitted. Entry fee is $5 per lifter.
Admission is $5. A concessions stand and t-shirts will be available.
