Schools’ honors deserved

While administrations, teachers, and other faculty members within school districts in today’s educational climate need to adapt to the changing regulations and curriculums funneled down from the state; several school districts in the region have risen above to garner awards.
Earlier this year, two Lawrence County schools were awarded with Schools of Promise awards from the states Department of Education. Those two school districts were Ironton and Symmes Valley, with both being honored for their respective High Schools.
This month, Green Local Schools was honored as a Higher Progress School of Honor. The district was one of only 37 total schools in the State.
While the efforts of all school districts are to achieve the levels put forth by the state department of education, a special recognition should go out to all involved within those three school districts who were awarded by the state.
However, these types of awards are not only for the school district, as they are a reflection of the community as well.
To meet the standards required by the state can be difficult at times, but the ability to exceed those standards should be commended.
