Awareness for public important

If you have driven throughout the county, chances are you have seen garbage or other illegally dumped items.
A workshop held at Ohio University Southern last week was an important step in curbing this ongoing problem.
This was a step in the right direction to educate law enforcement along with others in the community to know the regulations on dumping.
However, while dumping materials such as metal and tires was discussed, another potentially more severe issue faces the state with the emergence of meth substances in recent years. This was also a topic at the workshop.
It is important to be educated not only on dumping, but the ability to safely remove dangerous types of materials.
We encourage our communities to get involved and report these activities to law enforcement or the proper entities.
This is important not only for the safety of the public, but this also helps keep Lawrence County clean and a great place to live.
It is important to be educated on these laws and make the proper plan before the problem can be eliminated.
