The Ironton City Mission will again this year prepare a large Thanksgiving dinner and serve it free on Thanksgiving Day.

The mission has done this for 69 years. This year, more than 35 25-pound turkeys will be baked, as well as dressing, green beans, slaw, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie will be on the menu.

This dinner is for anyone who needs a meal or just needs to eat with others on this special day, a day to say thank you to the good Lord for all his blessings he bestows on us.

Last year, we served 948 meals, the most we have ever served. This meal is made possible because of the many friends who donate towards it.

The mission is also getting ready for the Christmas food baskets and toys that we will give out. Last year, we gave food baskets to more than 700 families and new toys to more than 1,500 children.

We could not do this if not for generous giving of our friends. I hope this year you will be able to assist us in this worthy project.

All this is given to the families without charge.

The mission never charges anything for the things we do for others. We never sell anything and we do not have a thrift store to sell anything.
