WILLOW WOOD — A support group formed by the family and close friends of Symmes Valley freshman cheerleader Ashley Dennison, who is fighting cancer, will have a fundraiser on Sunday.
The group is called Ashley’s Anchors and its focus is raising money to ease the financial burden of travel and other expenses incurred by the family as Dennison goes through treatment.
“This is a collaborative effort among Ashley’s family,” Alisha Wilson, who helped organize Sunday’s event, said. “We are just trying to raise money for her family.”
The cruise-in and craft show will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at Symmes Valley Schools. The cost is $10 per vendor and $10 per cruise-in entry.
Dennison receives chemotherapy treatments every Friday and will continue to get treated until January. The chemotherapy is a preventative measure ordered by doctors after cancer was found in one of Dennison’s kidneys after it was removed.
Wilson is in charge of vendors for the cruise-in and craft show and said on Wednesday 22 had signed up to be at the event.
“We’ve seen everything come together pretty quickly,” she said. “But we will take all the vendors we can get.”
Concessions will be available at the fundraiser and a lot of racecars, Wilson said, are expected be involved in the cruise-in because of the Dennison family’s love of racing.
Those interested in displaying crafts at the event or having a vehicle in the cruise-in can register the day of the event, by calling Wilson at 740-646-5560 or on Facebook by searching Ashley’s Anchors Cruise-in and Craft Show.
Up next in the ongoing fundraisers is a poker run at noon on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Colleywood Acres Off-Road.
