It’s like ordering a Wendy’s double.
Wendy’s Restaurant sponsors a Wendy’s High School Heisman award that honors students who combine the best of athletics and academics.
To be eligible for the Wendy’s High School Heisman, a student must be a senior, have maintained a 3.0 grade point average during their three years of high school, and participate in one or more school sponsored extracurricular activities.
A male and female winner are chosen nationally, but Wendy’s also honors students locally in each state.
Local students honored this year included Brea Tackett and Howie Lucas from Ironton High School, Anthony Whaley of Ironton St. Joseph, Wayne Sparks and Kelli McMackin of Coal Grove, Ryan Albright of Rock Hill, Seth Ransbottom of Chesapeake, Bethany Bloomfield and Justin Payne of Symmes Valley, and Heather Burton of Green.
Students chosen are luncheon guests of Wendy’s and presented certificates for their selection.
Students chosen for Heisman consideration will have their name added to the school plaque and another plaque placed in the local Wendy’s in recognition of their accomplishments.
