CHESAPEAKE — The search continues for a man who allegedly robbed the City National Bank in Chesapeake at midmorning.
“At approximately 10:46 a.m. we received a phone call of a bank robbery at City National,” Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless said.
The alleged robber was described as a white male 5-foot-8 with a slender build.
“He was wearing a blue hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans and brandishing a hand gun,” Lawless said. “He went to the counter and demanded money from the teller.”
The man allegedly received an undetermined amount of money from the teller and then fled on foot out the front door of the bank and headed toward the woods behind the facility.
“We have canines up in the woods searching as well as officers,” Lawless said.
However by 12:30 p.m. the canine search was called off.
There was one customer in the bank. No one was hurt in the incident.
