SHIRLEY RUNYON

MARION —  Shirley Runyon, 70, of Marion, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, peacefully with her loving husband and children by her side. She was born Jan. 17, 1940, to the late Kenneth and Gladys Stewart. She was the second of eight children. She was raised in Washington Court House. Shirley met the love of her life and married Charles Runyon on July 16, 1955. They went on to raise six children. Shirley worked for Payment Specialist Inc. with her husband for 28 years. Once retired, they lived in Homossassa Springs, Fla., for 17 years and later moved to Marion, to be with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Gladys (Holley) Stewart and one brother, Kenneth Stewart Jr. of Georgia.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 55 years; five sons, Glenn Runyon of Oviedo, Fla., Mike (Debbie) Runyon, Steve (Marla) Runyon, Larry (Cathy) Runyon,  Randy (Kim) Runyon, all of Marion; and a daughter, Gail (Raymond) McClurg of Greenup, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry Lee Stewart, Jim (Margaret) Stewart of Washington Court House, Don (Maxine) Stewart of Fla., Bob (Joann) Stewart of Texas, two sisters, Linda (Larry) Merrit of Greenfield, and Sue (Jerry) Brandel of Tennessee;, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. Shirley loved to read and collect dolls in her spare time. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and caring for her Boston Terriers, Brandy, Candy and Susie Q.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, Marion, on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Michael D. Mohr on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daphne, Bradley, Joey, Nick, Derrick and Jason. Contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice and the family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice nurses, Joni, Angie, Tammy and Wynetta.
