SCOTTOWN — Organizers call it “The Fastest Growing Bluegrass Music Festival in North America.”

Appalachian Uprising is held the first weekend in June at Eden Valley Farm, 1175 Township Road 225, in Scottown. On Saturday, Appalachian Uprising 2 is slated to begin.

“The reason we have the second festival is to purely raise money for charity,” Steve Cielec, festival promoter and owner of local McDonald’s franchises, said.

Tickets are $20 and campsites are $15; all proceeds are donated to the Ronald McDonald House Children’s Charities of the Tri State.

“I am associated with McDonald’s,” Cielec said. “The Ronald McDonald House is a great charity and I’m glad we can be a part of helping out.”

Food and merchant vendors will be at the festival and the lineup includes Bobby Cyrus, Rumpke Mountain Boys, Cumberland River Band, Chad Stanley, The Genuine Junk Band, Moonshine Crossing, Billy Two Shoes and Knockin’ Spirits.
