George W. “Smitty” Smith, Jr., 82, of Ironton, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at a local health care center. The Ironton native was born May 21, 1928, the son of the late George W. Smith Sr. and Lucile L. Gee Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was owner/operator of Smith Saw Lock Shop for 50 years and attended First United Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Smith.
He is survived by a niece Jane Smith of Ironton; and a nephew, George and Rose Smith of Columbus.
Graveside service will be noon Thursday in Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Sherill officiating. There will be no public visitation. Phillips Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
