Giving blood is always in season

The American Red Cross, in partnership with Nexcare Bandages and actress Soleil Moon Frye, will host the fifth annual Nexcare give program to celebrate World Blood Donor Day on Friday.
This nationwide program will raise awareness about the importance of year-round blood donation and encourage people across the country to roll up a sleeve. Nexcare Brand will give away limited-edition bandages inspired by the four seasons — spring, summer, fall and winter — each adorned with the word “give” to demonstrate that giving blood is always in season. The special bandages will be distributed at Red Cross donor centers and blood drives on Friday.
“Sometimes people get busy with summer activities and they forget to make giving blood a priority. That means the summer months can pose a challenge to ensure a sufficient blood supply is available for those in need,” said John A. Hagins, CEO of the Greater Alleghenies Blood Services Region. “We are excited to work with Nexcare Bandages and Soleil Moon Frye to remind people that the need for blood is constant, regardless of the season.”
From summer flip-flops and winter snowflakes to fall foliage and spring flowers, the Nexcare give bandages will give Red Cross blood donors a chance to show their dedication by ensuring a sufficient blood supply is available for patients year-round.
To donate, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.
