Wanda Childers

Wanda Jean Pinkerman Clay Childers, 82, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Sunset Nursing Center in Coal Grove. The Ironton native was born July 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Ira and Mildred Rowe Pinkerman. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Childers Jr.

Mrs. Childers attended Coal Grove schools, was a former pharmacy assistant for CVS Pharmacy and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband, Russell Virgin and second husband, Homer Fugett; and six brothers, Ira Pinkerman, Jr., Paul Pinkerman, Bill Pinkerman, Tom Pinkerman, Larry Pinkerman and Philip Pinkerman.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Sue Clay of Mount Gilead, N.C.; son, Donald L. Clay of Lloyd, Ky.; daughter and son-in-law, Midi and Keith Evans of Wurtland, Ky.; three stepdaughters, Sandra and Wes Gorman of Crestview Hills, Ky., Jeri (Shane) Fields of Ironton and Francesca (Marty) Craft of South Point; four sisters, Betty Dean of Deering, Deloris (Dick) Leake of Ashland, Ky., Juanita Markel of Coal Grove and Gloria (Richard) Schwab of Ironton; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Evans officiating. Entombment will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Flatwoods, Ky. Ray Littlejohn

Ray E. “Buddy” Littlejohn, 68, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born on Dec. 19, 1944, in Lawrence County, the son of Wanda Jean Littlejohn of Kitts Hill and the late George Raymond Littlejohn. He is also survived by his wife of 45 happy years, Lesta Francis Littlejohn of Ironton.

Mr. Littlejohn was a 1964 graduate of Rock Hill High School and retired from CSX Locomotive Shop in Huntington, W.Va. He was a member of the VFW Post 8850 and the New Valley Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his daughter, Angela Dawn Littlejohn-Harrah and her husband, Todd; granddaughters, Paige Raechelle Parsons and her fiancé Josh Clifton, Makenzi Dawn Harrah and Baylie Nicole Harrah; two sisters, Joyce and George Collins of Kitts Hill and Sharon and Bunk Harper of Ironton; two brothers, Ronnie and Emily Littlejohn of Ironton and Randy and Denise Littlejohn of Kitts Hill; three nieces; five nephews, aunts and uncles; and a special aunt and uncle, Nancy and Steve Martin by his side, of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor George Collins officiating. Phyllis McWharter

Phyllis Jean McWharter, 76, of Haverhill, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She dedicated her life to church, family and friends. She was married to Charles “Bud” McWharter on Dec. 7, 1955 for 41 years. Charles passed away on May 29, 1996.

Phyllis is survived by two sons, Charles (Pam) McWharter, Jr. of Wheelersburg and Robert (Stacey) McWharter of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Betty (Alan) Webb of Wheelersburg and Mary (Pat) Mayle of Haverhill; 10 grandchildren, Leesa (Jeremy) Hall, Chad McWharter, Corey (Niki) McWharter, Colleen McWharter, Marybeth (Jimmy) Fritz, Rachel McWharter, Oksana McWharter, Peyton McWharter, Cameron Mayle, and Kyle Mayle; and three great-grandchildren, Elijah Hall, Jimmy “Bub” Fritz and Hailey McWharter. Also surviving are a brother Everett Dixon and two sisters, Gloria Tackett and Leona Rigsby. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Viola Minor Dixon and a sister, Patty Tumbleson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Haverhill Bible Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Mathew officiating with burial in Clapboard Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Sunday. Helen Cregut

Helen “Josephine” Jones Cregut, 82, of Huntington, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral service will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Minister Alan Cole. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville. Irene Clay

Irene Clay, 84, of Ironton died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. She is the wife of George Clay, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
