More than 200 people gathered at the Center Street Landing to await the arrival of the Delta Queen Sunday. The boat made a surprise stop in Ironton and became part of the city’s sesquicentennial celebration. Dressed up in his tophat, Robert Price, and other costumed members of the Lawrence County Historical Society,
right, greeted the first passenger off the boat, Alan Thebert of Detroit, Mich., far right, who was on his fifth river cruise. In addition to several presentations including a proclamation and key to the city, the riverboat passengers also enjoyed tours of the city’s historic homes. (Tribune photos by Renee Carey)
