Hospice of Huntington in Ohio has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety.
The accreditation award recognizes Hospice of Huntington’s dedication to continuous compliance with the Joint Commission’s state of the art standards.
Hospice of Huntington in Ohio underwent a rigorous unannounced on-site survey in March of 2013. A joint commission expert surveyor evaluated the non-profit agency for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
“In achieving joint commission accreditation, Hospice of Huntington in Ohio has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients,” said Margherita Labson, R.N., executive director, Home Care Accreditation, The Joint Commission. “Accreditation is a voluntary process and I commend Hospice of Huntington in Ohio for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”
Established in 1988, The Joint Commission’s standards address the organization’s performance in specific areas, and specify requirements to ensure that patient care and services are provided in a safe manner. The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care and develops its standards in consultation with health care experts, providers and researchers, as well as measurement experts, purchasers and consumers.
“By achieving our most recent Joint Commission accreditation in Ohio, we continue our longstanding commitment to provide quality end-of-life care to our patients. This process provides us a framework to maintain the highest standards of excellence within the communities we serve,” says Charlene Farrell, president & CEO for Hospice of Huntington.
