Next Saturday will be an afternoon of beautiful vintage clothes and specialty foods as the Lawrence County Historical Society hosts its annual spring tea.
This year’s theme for the event is “The Styles through the Seasons” and will showcase fashion from the museum’s collection including formals and a mink jacket.
“And we will end with a beautiful wedding gown,” Kay Rader, a museum volunteer, said.
Rader will be one of the first faces guests will see as she brings her well-known portrayal of Nannie Kelley Wright to the afternoon tea.
The menu that will be served by the volunteers will include broccoli cheese soup, scones, specialty sandwiches, desserts and homemade candies.
Models will be Jackie DuFore, Fondalene Alfrey, Katie Higgins, Carla Higgins, Shelby Dalton and Haley Waldo.
The tea is one of the many fundraisers throughout the year the historical society has to promote the work of the museum and its many collections.
“It is important not only to the history of the town but the culture,” Rader said.
Tickets for the tea are $20 and reservations must be made by calling Rader at (740) 534-9477.
Memberships in the historical society are also available for $15 for an individual; $20 for a family; $50 for the friend level and $100 for the patron level.
The museum is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
