The Huntington Area Food Bank will host its fourth mobile pantry in Lawrence County Feb. 26 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.

The previous mobile pantry hosted in Ironton saw a turnout of more than 400 people receiving food for their families. That particular mobile pantry served more than 1,300 individuals.

“We decided to return to Ironton to serve the Lawrence County population because the previous turnout there was one of the highest we have ever seen,” said Tiffany Tatum, interim executive director. “There are nearly 4,000 children in Lawrence County who do not know where their next meal will come from, making our services there all the more necessary.”

Registration to receive food at the mobile pantry will begin at 9 a.m. and food distribution will begin at 10 a.m. Those who are attending the mobile pantry must provide proof of residency upon registration.

If residents are picking up food for someone else, they must provide the recipient’s proof of residency as well as a notarized permission slip.

The Huntington Area Food Bank is a 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit organization affiliated with Feeding America, the largest hunger relief agency in the United States. It services 260 agencies in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

HAFB receives products from Feeding America, USDA, local donors, regional grocers, restaurants, farmers, food manufacturers and food processors.
