Hazel Hutchinson
Dec. 8, 1933 — Feb. 8, 2013
Hazel Dolen Hutchinson, 79, of South Point, received her heavenly reward on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Community Hospice Care House, Ashland, Ky. She was born Dec. 8, 1933 in Salt Rock, W.Va., a daughter of the late Rev. Leonard Basil and Mary Estee Nida Dolen. She was a Home Interior consultant for more than 40 years and a member of Brookdale Freewill Baptist Church for more than 30 years, where she was a Sunday school teacher. When becoming homebound, she served the Lord as a prayer line partner.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Edward Hutchinson; brothers Harold (Beulah) Dolen, Leonard Dolen, Jr., Richard (Burt) Dolen, Pete Dolen; sisters Mary (Marion) Crabtree and Sarah Terry; in-laws Issac (Catherine) Hutchinson, Howard Neekamp, Richard Hunt and Bruce Meade.
She is survived by daughters Gloria (Raymond) Pennington, Linda (Randy) Henderson and Tammy (Greg) Bills; special grandchildren, Heather (Scott) Schwamberger, James (Chasity) Pennington, Nathan Spurlock, Chad (Gena) Henderson and Amanda (John) Stumbo; treasured great grandchildren, Emily, William and Lori Schwamberger, Julian and Abigail Pennington, Austin Henderson and Aubrey Stumbo; brothers John (Lilly) Dolen, William (Carolyn) Dolen, Rev. Sam (Mary) Dolen, Rev. David (Pam) Dolen; sisters Lois Meade, Ethel (Jerry) Burth, Ida (Argie) Jeffers; in-laws Rev. Thomas Terry, Judy Neekamp, Gladys Hunt, Danny (Regina) Hutchinson, Dawn Dolen and Donna Dolen; three generations of nieces and nephews; special friends Brenda Triplett, Kathy Bragg, Carol Fields, Betty Wright, Judy Lake, June Webb and Patsy Jones (Deceased); and church family and friends too many to mention.
Hazel will be remembered as a faithful servant of God. Her testimony will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville by Rev. David Dolen and Rev. Sam Dolen. Dixie Simms
June 30, 1939 — Feb. 7, 2013
Dixie Simms, 73, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Mingo County, W.Va., native was born June 30, 1939. She was the daughter of the late James and Ada Ooten Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Simms, who passed away July 13, 2001.
Mrs. Simms was a former home health aide for Bellefonte Home Health for 15 years, retiring in 2010. She also owned and operated the Short List Grocery for 25 years and was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hall. She is survived by three sons, James Ferguson of Marion, Willis Cochran of Burgin, Ky. and Lester Gannon (Liz) of Snow Camp, N.C.; three daughters, Debra Sherman (John) and Ada Dorrell of Ironton, and Kathy Wilson (Martin) of Ludowisi, Ga.; four stepsons, Jim Simms, Steve Simms, Jim Cochran, Bill Cochran; sister, Sue Wooten of South Point; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 16 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. Chaplain Randy Tate will be officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum. Bessie Mannon
June 2, 1918 — Feb. 8, 2013
Bessie M. Mannon, 94, Gallipolis passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, in Holzer Senior Care Center. She was born June 2, 1918, in Hamlin, W.Va., daughter of the late Gilbert and Nora (Salmons) Lucas. She was formerly an employee of Star Cross Canning Factory and a member of the First Baptist Church, Gallipolis. Bessie married O’Dell Mannon in Catlettsburg, Ky., in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1965.
She is survived by three sons, Gary (Barb) Mannon, Perrysburg, Richard (Sharon) Mannon, Walbridge and Michael Mannon, Bradner; two daughters, Norma Rossiter, Crown City and Patricia Cremeans, Kanauga; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Hershal and Herman Lucas, both of Proctorville and a daughter-in-law, Shirley Mannon, Perrysburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donald Mannon in 1984; a granddaughter, great-granddaughter, a sister, Lilli Lucas Mannon and sons-in-law, Merrill Rossiter and Michael Cremeans.
Graveside service will be noon Tuesday at the Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, with the Rev. Alvis Pollard officiating. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. The McCoy-Moore Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mannon Family.

Joyce Lyles
March 18, 1939 — Feb. 7, 2013
Joyce Lyles, 73, of Marion, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Marion General Hospital in Marion. The Grayson, Ky., native was born March 18, 1939, a daughter to late Alfred Leslie Shepherd and Angeline (Riffe) Shepherd. Joyce is also preceded in death by her late husband, John Lyles.
Joyce attended school in Blackfork, and later served her family as a homemaker. She attended White Oaks Freewill Baptist Church in Marion.
Joyce is survived by seven children: Kathy (Frank) Carmon of Marion, Penny (Donald) Lewis of Genoa, Randy (Denise) Shepherd of Waterloo, James McGuire of Pedro, Terri (Don) Cox of Decatur, and Donald (Tammy) McGuire of Pedro; one brother, John Shepherd of Gallipolis; four sisters, Joann (Marvin) Pack of Firebrick, Ky., Freda (Robert) Bowles of Perrysburg, Elizabeth (Alfred) Laredo of Toledo, and Sylvia Flannery of South Shore, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce is preceded in death by a son, Billy McGuire, Jr.; two sisters, Louise Gilliam and Linda Shepherd; and two brothers, Claude Shepherd and James Shepherd.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer – Monroe Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Buckhorn Cemetery. Charles Littlejohn
April 22, 1991 — Feb. 7, 2013
Charles Lee Littlejohn, 21, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Campus in Ironton. The Huntington, W.Va., native was born April 22, 1991, a son of Stephen Ray Littlejohn of Pedro and Brenda Sue Mulkey of Ironton.
Charles was a 2010 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and was of the Baptist faith. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed hanging out with his brother watching Gold Rush, Swamp People, Axe Man, Lizard Lick Towing and acting a fool.
He was preceded in death by grandmother, Alberta Littlejohn; stepgrandmother, Rosalie Mulkey; and cousin, Brianna R. Mulkey.
In addition to his parents he is survived by sister, Amanda Nicole Reynolds of Ironton; brother, David Franklin Littlejohn of Ironton; grandparents, Newt Mulkey and Yvonne Summers, both of Ironton; stepfather, Otto Graham of Ironton; uncle and aunt, James and Malissa Mulkey of North Carolina; aunt, Tammy Jo Little of North Carolina; niece, Kira Mulkey; nephew, Dustin Ray Reynolds; nephew, Joshua Dixon; and special friend, Scott Taylor.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Ice Creek Cemetery.
