As costs for college steadily rise, it becomes ever more important for students to know their options when it comes to financial aid.
To help students and their families better understand the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Ohio University Southern will join with schools across the state in hosting “College Goal Sunday” on Feb. 10 at 2 p.m.
The financial aid event is free to the public and is designed to provide assistance to those completing the FAFSA. The application is required for those seeking federal financial aid, which includes the Federal Pell Grant, student loans and need-based state grants.
“Sites are selected throughout the state to make it convenient for families to receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid,” Jacki Adkins, OUS assistant director of Enrollment and Student Services, said. “Financial barriers are one of the main reasons students do not seek higher education so Ohio University Southern is eager to participate each year. The financial aid process can be confusing so College Goal Sunday is a great opportunity for students and families to receive help filling the FAFSA and get questions answered.”
Walk-ins are welcome, but attendance is expected to be high and those planning to attend are encouraged to register for the event in advance at www.ohiocollegegoalsunday.org or by calling 1-800-233-6734.
