Those waiting to try out Ironton High School’s newly resurfaced track will have to wait just a little longer before putting rubber soles on the fresh surface.
Dean Nance, Ironton Schools superintendent, said the final coat was put down by All American Track Corporation just before the start of Christmas break, but his latest inspection uncovered things not quite to his liking.
Nance said, before payment could be made the track must meet his satisfaction.
“I’m very sorry to the community who uses the track,” Nance said. “But when something costs over $100,000 we need the quality to be there and the warranty to protect our investment.”
Nance said the rain is holding off the completion of the renovation, but he is hopeful the work will be complete, and the track open to the public in about two weeks.
