SOUTH POINT — Kurt Adams was a triple treat.
Adams tied the school record for 3-point goals as he hit 10 shots from behind the arc and scored 32 points in the South Point Pointers 95-53 rout of the Huntington St. Joseph Fighting Irish Wednesday.
Adams hits 10 of 13 shots from 3-point range to tie Brandon Barnes who set the record last year. Barnes had a pair of 3-pointers and scored 16 points in the win.
“Kurt was hot and the players did a good job getting the ball to him,” said Pointers’ coach Chris Barnes. “We’re shooting the ball well from 3-point range as a team.”
South Point had 18 3-point goals in the game. They made 15 in their last game.
The Pointers (5-5) had five players in double figures. Phil Kratzenberg, John Johnson and Brandon Boggs all scored 10 points.
Brady Rickard and Adams each grabbed 10 rebounds. Payne Meadows had 6 assists and Johnson 5 assists.
Anthony Rabel scored 14 points and Michael Mayes 13 to lead the Irish (1-7).
The Pointers took a 22-14 lead after the first quarter. Brandon Barnes got 6 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 45-29 at the half.
Adams made six 3-pointers as he exploded for 20 points in the third quarter and the Pointers outscored the Irish 29-11 to open up a 74-40 cushion.
The Pointers play at Rock Hill on Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
