PORTSMOUTH — On paper, it’s Wheelersburg and Oak Hill. On the field, it’s still to be determined.
The Southern Ohio Conference preseason football media poll has selected Wheelersburg as the favorite in Division II and Oak Hill to repeat in Division I.
Wheelersburg received three of the six first place votes cast by area media representatives that cover the SOC and had 30 points overall. Portsmouth West was second with 28 points and two first place votes.
Defending champion Minford had 26 points and the other first place vote. Lucasville Valley had 22 points followed by Waverly with 14 and Northwest six.
Oak Hill — with most of its starters returning from a 10-0 regular season — got all six votes and earned 30 points. Symmes Valley finished runners-up last year and was picked as the second place team again with 23 points.
Portsmouth Notre Dame was third with 16 points, Sciotoville East had 13 points and Green got eight points.
The media poll included one vote each from the Portsmouth Daily Times, Jackon Telegram, Jackson Times-Journal, Scioto Voice, Waverly News-Watchman and The Ironton Tribune.
