SOUTH POINT – There’s something about close games and the South Point Lady Pointers.
Involved in yet another one-run game, the Lady Pointers lost a heartbreaking 1-0 decision to the Greenup County (Ky.) Lady Musketeers Thursday.
The tough-luck spoiled the pitching effort of Tara Layne who fired a two-hitter. Layne struck out five and did not walk a batter.
The Lady Pointers had four hits. Nekka Mains was 2-for-3 while Whitney Morrison and Sarah Baise were 1-3.
Greenup got the game’s only run in the second inning.
With one out, Sparks singled to right, Browning followed with a hit to left. Layne struck out the next batter, but an error on a ground ball by Timberlake scored Sparks.
South Point is 9-4 on the season.
