At about 1:40 a.m. Saturday, South Point Police Department officers served a search warrant to Wayne Meade, 115 Ferry St., South Point, said Det. Rodney Armstrong.

"I read Mr. Meade the search warrant and his Miranda rights, and he signed a waiver of his rights," Armstrong said. "I interviewed him and also found evidence to lead us to believe there were more drugs, money and other related materials in his Burlington residence."

At the Ferry Street address, officers recovered just less than one pound of marijuana packaged for sale, about 70 assorted pills mixed in various containers, smoke pipes, forceps, notebooks containing drug trafficking records, seeds, plastic bags and cash and coins, Armstrong said.

By about 4 a.m., officers entered Meade’s Burlington residence where they found and confiscated smoke pipes, pills, plastic bags, and an ash tray full of "roaches," or partially-smoked marijuana cigarettes, folding scissors, marijuana stems, forceps and more money.

Meade faced his preliminary hearing Monday.

The case was worked from information received from the community and through cooperation of local law-enforcement agencies, Armstrong said.

"With more help from the community, we can solve more crimes and combat the war on drugs more effectively," he said. "Tips can be given anonymously on the web if you go to www.crimereports.com under ‘Ohio’ and then ‘South Point.’ We need the tips, not the name (of the person submitting the information)."
