An Ironton man will serve 10 years in prison for stabbing two women.

Joseph Lewis, 45, of 607 N. Fifth St., pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court for two counts of felonious assault and one count of tampering with evidence.

Judge Charles Cooper accepted the recommendation made by prosecutor Brigham Anderson that Lewis should serve five years in prison for each count of felonious assault to run consecutively and five years in prison for tampering with evidence, a sentence that will run concurrently with the two other sentences for a total of 10 years in prison.

“These were two separate victims on the same day,” Anderson explained.

Lewis stabbed Connie Fisher and her mother Goldie Fisher at his apartment April 28. He then threw the knife he used onto a neighbor’s roof.

Lewis apologized for the assault at his sentencing.

“I’ve never been so remorseful in my whole life,” Lewis said, adding that the victims were a big part of his life.

“I wish I could take it back. However I know that I can’t.”
