CANTON, Ohio – Paul Wackerly III of Canton maintained his one-stroke lead at the 76th Ohio Open with a 3-under par 67 Tuesday, giving him a two-round total of 10-under 130 heading into Wednesday’s final round at the Tam O’Shanter Golf Courses.

Wackerly is attempting to win the tournament for the first time after finishing tied for third in 1998 and tied for fourth last year. He is competing in the event for the eighth straight year and made the cut in all but one of those years.

Chris Wollmann of Strongsville and Ken Tanigawa of Dublin are tied for second at 131. Wollmann shot a 64 and Tanigawa a 63 Tuesday. Wollmann finished seventh last year. Tanigawa is playing in his first Ohio Open since 1990 after several years on the Japanese tour.

At 132 were amateur David Oates of Canton, who shot his second straight 66, and Jack Steinicke of Pickerington, who had a second-round 67. Oates is attempting to become the first amateur to win the tournament since Robert Lewis in 1978.

Steve Voinovich of Gates Mills, who was second after the first round, had a 69 and was tied for sixth at 133 with Eric Frishette of Lancaster.

Another shot back at 134 were 1979 champion Gary Trivisonno of Highland Heights and Kyle Voska of Cincinnati.

Defending champion Rob Moss of Broadview Heights was among several golfers at 136 after a 69 Tuesday.

The top 50 pros and the top 10 amateurs made the cut for the final round. The cutoff point was 141 for the pros and 145 for the amateurs.

The tournament drew 206 golfers, including 45 amateurs.
