Want to relive a little of your own past? Do you have a desire to understand a little of your own history? This weekend offers one way to answer those questions.
The 14th annual Festival of the Hills will be Saturday and Sunday at the Ohio University Southern Campus.
It will bring trolley rides, Indian artifacts and an Appalachian church service together with Lawrence County history exhibits, local food and crafts. There will be homemade apple pie, OUSC’s "science wizard," and a black history exhibit – just to name a few other festival treats, demonstrations and entertainment celebrating Appalachia.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s too bad but people often loose track of their roots. While they’re zipping around the country searching for wealth and fame, they forget their hometowns. Even those who don’t forget their hometowns often lose valuable memories.
The weekend festival serves as a connection, a place to get to know not only your past but also learn more about it.
And it’s all because a group of volunteers and Tri-State businesses work hard every year to bring it together.
So, set aside a little time this weekend for the Festival of the Hills.
Drive down, take a look around and show your support.
It’s one way of keeping our little part of history alive.
