CHESAPEAKE – It was strength in size and numbers.
The Chesapeake Panthers beat the Meigs Marauders at their own game as they posted a 49-30 wrestling win Thursday.
"I thought Meigs was real strong in the upper weight classes, but we did well against them. I thought our guys wrestled real well," Chesapeake coach Phil Davis said.
Two of the tougher wins for the Panthers were Chester Collins 14-4 decision of Johnny Krawsczyni in the 130-pound division and Steve Smith’s pin of Donny Barnett at 135.
"Collins and Smith wrestled pretty well. And (Eddie) Neel wrestled a couple of exhibition with some bigger kids and did real well," said Davis.
Chesapeake is at Gallipolis Saturday, Dec. 30.
