River Valley was at the foul line shooting what could have been the game-tying free throw with 1.7 seconds remaining.

But the Lady Raiders missed the shot and Chesapeake grabbed the rebound. The ball was knocked loose, fell to the floor, and Brittany McDade picked up the ball and scored to lift River Valley past the Lady Panthers 48-47.

"We should never have been in that situation," Chesapeake coach Chad Belville said. "I can’t fault my girls. Our girls played their hearts out. River Valley is playing well right now. They lost to Logan by one in overtime and beat Gallipolis at Gallipolis."

Erin Sutphin had a game-high 23 points to lead the Lady Panthers, 3-5. Kim Frye had eight rebounds, three assists, and five steals.

River Valley was led by Nicole Watkins with 16 points.

Chesapeake led the entire game until the end of the game.

Watkins, who had 14 of her points the fourth quarter, hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left to put River Valley ahead. Sutphin answered with a 3-pointer to put Chesapeake ahead 47-46 with 20 seconds left.
