COAL GROVE – Desiree Butler is 30-something.

That 30-something is 30 points, a career-high performance for the Coal Grove senior guard who led the Lady Hornets past the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans 63-40 Wednesday.

Butler had seven rebounds and four steals to go along with her 30 points.

Stacy Easterling had 11 points and eight assists, Cassie Ball nine points and nine rebounds, and Mary Wineka seven rebounds for Coal Grove, now 4-3.

Brooke Bowman scored 13 points and Jackie Emnett 11 to pace Notre Dame.

Butler scored 14 points the first quarter as Coal Grove jumped in front 18-10. Notre Dame then pulled to within 27-22 at the half.

Butler had seven points the third quarter as Coal Grove built a 42-28 lead, and she had seven more the fourth quarter as the Lady Hornets blew the game wide open.
