The 27th annual Ironton Artists Association Fall Art Show is upcoming this month, with lots of room to promote area talent, organizers said.

The 27th annual Ironton Artists Association Fall Art Show is upcoming this month, with lots of room to promote area talent, organizers said.
All artists 18 years old and older are invited to participate in the show, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, at Ohio University Southern Campus, said Lily Dickens of the association.
The public is invited and welcome to view the show from 1 p.m. on, Ms. Dickens said.
It is an opportunity for students, families and interested people to talk with the artists about their original works of art, she said.
Artists are limited to six pieces plus one for the special category. Entry fee is $12 for non-members and $6 for members. All artists must bring wire easels to display their art. In case of rain, limits are five pieces, plus one for the special category. Setup is from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; judging is at noon, with presentation of awards at 3:30 p.m.
Professional and non-professional artists are invited to enter work in the following categories: oils, watercolors, graphics/colored, graphics/black and white, mixed media, miscellaneous, portraits/figures. photography, sculpture and a special category called lighthouses.
Robert Hutton, MFA, retired professor of art from Marshall University, will judge the show to award cash merit and purchase awards as well as gift certificates.
Hutton earned his BFA degree in painting at Carnegie-Mellon University. He earned his MFA degree in drawing and sculpture at Penn State University. After having served on the fine arts faculty at Marshall for 29 years. Hutton received the title of faculty emeritus in 1999.
Currently, he continues to create works of art on a full-time basis. He has received several grants for creative research and innovative art processes, as well as a variety of awards for his art. Nationally and regionally, Hutton’s work has been exhibited in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions, as well as several solo shows.
