All 13 candidates running in the two races for city council attended, briefly explaining their platforms and answering hand-written audience questions.

Organizers of Meet the Candidate night called it a success, considering the auditorium was packed for all two hours of the event, club members said.

Many people didn’t know all the candidates, so the night served as a way to become more familiar with future city leaders, they said.

Candidates for Ironton City Council include (in alphabetical order): John W. Elam, Robert Isaac, Larry Jewell, David Richard Massey, Raymond Franklin Murphy, William Brent Pyles, James Ray Ridgeway, Robert Smith, Jim Tordiff and Leo M. Ulery have filed in the race for four seats. One unexpired term (currently held by Richard Price) is also up for grabs. Richard B. Price, Bob Vaughn and Hilda Davidson have filed in that race.
