MU instructor charged with felony rape

SOUTH POINT — A Marshall University instructor is behind bars today after being arrested Tuesday in connection with the alleged rape of an underage girl.

William M. Morrison, 37, of 140 Private Drive 2482 County Road 1 in South Point, is charged with felony rape and is in the Lawrence County Jail.

According to a prepared statement from Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless, the alleged victim called her father Sunday and said she had been raped by Morrison at Morrison’s home.

When the girl’s father went to the Morrison residence, Morrison fled in a vehicle. On Tuesday a warrant for rape was issued for Morrison.

Morrison, accompanied by attorney Chris Delawder, turned himself in to detectives later that day. Morrison will be arraigned in Lawrence County Municipal Court Friday.
