PEDRO – Bluefield College coach Cheryl Fielitz went looking for a diamond and found a gem.
Fielitz was watching Gallipolis in hopes of landing a player for her program when an opposing player, Rock Hill’s Jordan Edwards, caught her eye.
"(Fielitz) was at the Gallipolis game and afterwards she pulled (Rock Hill coach Amy Hughes) aside and asked if she could call me," said Edwards.
The call was made, the recruiting began, and after a visit to the Virginia school, Edwards had selected Bluefield over Otterbein College.
So this past Wednesday, the 5-foot-7 Edwards signed a letter-of-intent to play for Bluefield College Rambling Rams in Bluefield, Va.
The senior guard preferred Bluefield to other schools such as Otterbein because it is only a two and one-half hour drive.
