RICHMOND, Ky. -- Jack C. Comer, 52, of Richmond, formerly of Ironton, Ohio, died Monday at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
The Ashland native was born Nov. 3, 1949, the son of Jack C. and Betty L. Hardy Comer of Ironton. He was the husband of Shirley Stevens Comer, who survives.
The veteran of the U.S. Air Force served during the Vietnam Conflict, and he was a manager
for several different restaurants. He was a member and officer with the Doc Riley Chapter of the DAV and was a graduate of Coal Grove High School. He was a Baptist.
He also was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Goldie Hardy.
Survivors, in addition to his parents and wife, include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Curtis Alan and Emily Comer of Ashland and Jack Ross Comer of Winchester; one daughter, Elisha Comer of Winchester; 10 step children, Vickie Parrett, Kristy Johns, Shawnda Rose, Rhonda Trickler, Stacie Greer, Robert Boner, Kevin Smith, Brian Smith, Brandon Smith and Dustin Ray Smith, all of Richmond; three grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; one sister, Boots Comer of Ironton; and one brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Carolyn Comer of Reedsville, Wis.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Comer officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
